Light Turner Sand – M is a double-layer satin turning sheet designed to make turning, moving and repositioning in bed easier for caregivers and gentler for users. The sheet must always be used together with Light Cover Sand. Combined, the two products form a satin turning system in which satin glides against satin.
This reduces friction between the user and the mattress, allowing turning, repositioning higher up in bed and moving towards the edge of the bed to be performed with less physical effort and reduced pulling on the skin.
Why Light Turner Sand Works
During turning and repositioning, friction and shear forces between the body and the supporting surface can place strain on the user’s skin and tissue, as well as on the caregiver’s back and shoulders.
When Light Turner Sand is placed satin against satin on top of Light Cover Sand, the user can glide rather than being pulled or lifted. This provides a smoother, more comfortable repositioning experience for the user and promotes a more ergonomic working posture for the caregiver.
Light Turner Sand is an improved version of our original white Light Turner. The sand-coloured surface has been chosen because it is easier to keep looking clean and presentable during everyday use.
The sheet can be washed at temperatures up to 85°C, making it suitable for regular laundry routines in nursing homes, home care services and residential care facilities.
There are 6 handles on each side, providing a total of 12 handles for Manual Repositioning or Ceiling Hoist Assistance.
Light Turner Sand – M features six handles on each side, providing a total of 12 handles distributed along the length of the sheet.
The handles provide caregivers with a secure grip during manual turning and can also be attached to a ceiling hoist when the user needs to be turned into a side-lying position or repositioned higher up in bed.
When using a ceiling hoist, only the amount of weight necessary to allow the user to glide is supported by the hoist, while the user remains in contact with the mattress at all times.
Light Turner Sand is not a lifting sling and must never be used to lift the user completely off the bed.
For situations where handles are not required or straps are undesirable, the same model is available as Light Turner Sand – M (no grip).
Medium: For Users with Reduced Upper Body Mobility
The Medium version supports the head, upper body, pelvis and thighs.
It is designed for users with reduced upper body mobility who still retain some or limited function in their legs and can therefore assist with repositioning by pushing against Light Cover Sand with their feet.
This allows users to remain actively involved in their own repositioning while reducing the physical effort required from the caregiver.
For users with reduced mobility in both the upper body and legs, we recommend Light Turner Sand – L, which supports the entire body from head to feet and features eight handles on each side.
Typical Repositioning Tasks with Light Turner Sand – M

Turning the user into a side-lying position with one caregiver, optionally supported by positioning wedges and cushions.

Turning with the assistance of a ceiling hoist and one caregiver.

Repositioning higher up in bed, where the user pushes with their feet while the caregiver pulls the sheet or uses a ceiling hoist for assistance.

Moving into a sitting position at the edge of the bed, where the sheet is pulled out from underneath the buttocks before the user sits up.

Helping to prevent sliding down in bed by folding the foot end of the sheet underneath the user’s thighs before raising the head section of the bed.

A Complete Satin Turning System
Light Turner Sand – M is used together with Light Cover Sand, which is fitted to the mattress using elastic straps at the corners and securing flaps tucked underneath the mattress.
Light Cover Sand is available in three versions:

M: Satin beneath the shoulders and hips.

L: Satin extending along the full length of the mattress.

Leg: Satin extending over the edge of the mattress, making it easier to move the legs in and out of bed.

Light Turner Sand can be washed at temperatures up to 85°C. Do not use fabric softener, as it reduces the sliding properties of the material. Washing at lower temperatures helps extend the product’s lifespan.
How often should the handles be inspected?
Preferably before each use. Check the handles and stitching for signs of wear, damage or broken threads. If any damage is detected, the product must be discarded.
